Community Led CLASSES
Machine Design-Robotics (Grades 3-6)
STEM Discovery Kids
Students will use LEGO technic pieces - gears, beams, motors, and axles to build powered machines to complete tasks. The knowledge students gain in this class are directly applicable to FIRST LEGO League and also to student understanding of the way things work. The class ends with a design challenge where the students apply their knowledge to solve a real world problem with LEGO.
Grades 3-6 | 8 Student Max.

All of our classes place high emphasis on oral fluency. Our focus and teaching methodology is based on “learning through doing." The children pick up the language naturally through songs, play, story-telling, art, and daily routines. Classes are taught by a native Spanish teacher.

SODE’s Theater-Improv class is where you want to be if you want to let loose, have fun and get creative! This class focuses on improvisation fundamentals to help build self-confidence, polish
funny bones and expand creative worlds with acting games and scene work. This class also offers classical theater training by exploring texts, monologues and classical theater exercises.
Most of all, this class is about having fun in a comfortable, safe environment!

Knitting with Que (Grades 2-6)
Winter is the gift-giving season- and its right around the corner! What better way to get ready than to learn how to knit! In this class, you'll learn basic knitting skills and use them to make creations perfect for this coming winter. Advanced students will learn to work with new patterns and challenge themselves with more complex projects.

Programming-Robotics (Grades 3-6)
STEM Discovery Kids
Students will participate in teams of 3 to perform basic positioning tasks critical to success in robotics competitions. The students will learn to traverse a maze--first with simple turns, then advance to using sensors to increase accuracy.

Candy Factory Game Design-Robotics (Grades 4-6)
STEM Discovery Kids
We are building a FIRST LEGO LEAGUE style robot game- The Candy Factory. The overall vision of the game will be set by the students, they will break into smaller teams to design individual missions, and will work as a whole team to decide on mat design and game rules. Unfortunately no real candy will be involved only LEGO candy!

Radical Cooks: Culinary Arts and Science (K-6)
STEM starts in the kitchen! What makes the cookie dough rise? Why does oil separate from the vinegar? And how can you make food into edible works of art? This class series includes an introduction to kitchen chemistry, science, and art (including plating) all while making delicious (and often healthy) treats. Recipes and handouts included.
